What is the Pass Plus Scheme?
Pass Plus is a training course that is specifically aimed at new drivers. Pass Plus is designed by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) with the help of insurers and the driving instruction industry.
Pass Plus will help you to build upon your existing skills and knowledge, teaching you how to anticipate, plan for and deal with all kinds of hazards. This will help you to become more confident on the road.
Pass Plus consists of six extra modules, you do not have to take a test at the end of the training but are continually assessed throughout the course. You must successfully complete all the modules in the course to an achieved or exceeded standard.
The six modules are as follows:
- driving in town
- driving in all weathers
- driving on rural roads
- driving at night
- driving on dual carriageways
- driving on motorways
The Driving Standards Agency recommends that new drivers, who have just passed their practical test, consider the Pass Plus Scheme as it will help you to deal more accurately and confidently with the range of hazards that a new driver will be faced with.
Once you have completed the course you will receive a certificate from the Driving Standards Agency. This will enable you to apply for discounts from insurance companies with regards to insurance cover for your vehicle. |
